How to Wash Canvas Tote Bags?
Washing:
Cotton canvas tote bags are easy to clean and machine washable. For the best results, use a gentle cycle with either cold or warm water and a mild detergent. To keep any printed designs intact, be sure to turn the bag inside out before placing it in the washing machine.
Drying:
After washing, it’s advisable to air dry your canvas tote bags whenever possible. If you opt for a dryer, use a low heat setting to prevent damage. High heat can cause the cotton canvas to shrink and may crack any printed designs, reducing the bag’s aesthetic appeal.
Bleach:
When it comes to cleaning, avoid using bleach on colored or printed canvas bags, as it can cause discoloration and damage. Instead, for tough stains, consider using an oxygen-based stain remover which is gentler and safer for canvas materials. This method helps maintain the bag’s color and integrity.
Ironing:
If you find your cotton canvas tote needs a little freshening up, you can iron it carefully. Always iron the bag inside out on a medium heat setting to avoid directly touching any printed designs. This technique helps preserve the print while removing wrinkles effectively, maintaining a polished appearance.
Longevity:
With proper care, cotton canvas tote bags can remain functional and attractive for many years. Regular washing will soften the fabric, enhancing its comfort and usability. The structure, especially in sturdier 12oz styles, will hold shape through multiple uses and launderings, making them both beautiful and practical.
